About Ariadne
Ariadne is the main antagonist of my game Break the circle. She disguises herself as the helping hand of the story by guiding the player. Over time, the player finds out about her intention of keeping him in a vicious circle.
This character is the characterization of an abusive relationship. The Spider like silhouette represents manipulation. The huge light source which she emits in the dark environment, the player finds himself represents the dependence of the protagonist to her. By the narrative, the player also grasps that this light source also represents Ariadne's dependency to the protagonist, as it fades and destroys itself when the player decides to break the vicious circle.
Through her monologues, the player understands the nuances of this character: Ariadne is not the Antagonist because of pure evil since her emotions and motivations are relatable. Still, her actions are not.
